The Sumter County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Part Time Desk Clerk. Major duties for this position include but are not limited to; greeting the public and visitors to the office, answering multi-line telephone system, routing calls, taking messages, responding to questions about the department’s activities and collecting registration fees for the programs offered through the Parks and Recreation Department. Must be able to work flexible hours.

Minimum Requirements include high school diploma or recognized equivalent. Skill in oral and written communication is a must. Employee must be able to work weekdays, weekends, and evening hours. Proof of requirements must be provided when the application is returned.

ASSISTANT COUNTY CLERK/ASSISTANT RECORDS MANAGER – PART-TIME

The Sumter County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates to fill the part time position of Assistant County Clerk/Assistant Records Manager – Part-time. This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining official county records and for providing clerical support to the Board of Commissioners. Duties include but not limited to assisting in the preparation of the Board of Commissioners agenda; posting public notices; assembling meeting materials and distributes correspondence to the Board of Commissioners. Assisting in recording and preparing Board of Commissioners Meeting Minutes for public viewing; updating and maintaining the security of the county Minute Book. Complying with Open Meetings and Open Records laws. Providing administrative support to the Board of Commissioners and County Administrator(s). Assisting department directors, elected officials, and staff to ensure compliance with Secretary of State Records Retention Schedules; coordinating the proper disposal of records. Coordinating travel and training for Board of Commissioners and assisting with travel and training for County Administrator(s). Maintaining and retrieving documents from county records and files. Processing risk management claims related to county property, equipment, and vehicles. Coordinating the sale of surplus property. Distributing alcohol beverage applications and licenses. Ensuring the timely codification of county ordinances. Maintaining rosters of board appointments. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements include completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possess or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license.   Experience involving general office work including customer service, record/file maintenance, and personal computer operations required. Proof of these requirements must be provided when the application is returned. Have possession of or ability to readily obtain Certificate of Appointment of Notary Public and possession of a valid Georgia Driver’s License.  Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook is a must.  Applicant must have knowledge in Web basics and be knowledgeable in typical Web standards and guidance. The Sumter County Building and Grounds Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Detail Officer.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  This position is responsible for guarding and supervising assigned Sumter County Correctional Institution state inmates involved in construction and ground projects.  Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising inmates and participating in the construction and ground projects as assigned on new and existing facilities; interpreting project drawings and designs; operation of assigned construction equipment and tools and performing additional task as assigned. Minimum Requirements include high school or equivalent with a minimum of three years’ experience in construction and grounds or any equivalent combination of educations, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.  Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. FACILITY MAINTENANCE WORKER

The Sumter County Board of Commissioner and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Facility Maintenance Worker. Salary is commensurate based on experience, qualifications and an equitable compensation and pay plan.

Purpose of this position is to supervise county inmate crews and perform a variety of skilled and semi skilled work in the maintenance, repair and minor upkeep of the Sheriff’s Office and LEC.  Duties include but are not limited to minor carpentry, plumbing, filter maintenance, light fixture maintenance and heating and air system maintenance.  Minimum requirements include high school education or its equivalent. One to two years experience in building maintenance including facility maintenance, facility repair and heating and air systems.  Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.  Must pass P.O.S.T. Certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally within six months of employment.
