DEPUTY CLERK AND PANEL COORDINATOR (FULL-TIME)

The Office of the Juvenile Courts is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Deputy Clerk & Panel Coordinator.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is responsible for providing skilled clerical duties in support of the Office of the Juvenile Courts.  Duties include but are not limited to greeting the general public; answers telephones, routes calls, takes messages and responds to questions and gives information, procures and maintains all official case and judicial panel review records for each child reviewed, schedules case review dates and times, in consultation with the Council Staff Person, mails notification letters to all parties to be invited to a panel review, distributes judicial citizen review panel recommendations to the Juvenile Court Judge, DFCS, parents, and other appropriate agencies and parties.

Minimum Requirements include knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS AND REGISTRATION (FULL-TIME)

The Sumter County Board of Elections is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Supervisor Board of Elections and Registration. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is responsible for managing the department and supervising personnel engaged in performing a variety of voter registration and election service duties.  Work includes but is not limited to; preparing, conducts, and ensures the accuracy of municipal, county, state, and federal elections; ensures compliance with state and federal election law; prepares budget requests and manages approved budget funds; monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with budget; directs voter registration activities; direct election activities; locates and secures polling places; hires poll managers and poll workers; ensures the publication of required legal notices; visits polling places during elections to ensure efficient operations and to resolve problems; oversees the preparation of consolidation reports of election results; receives notices of candidacy, affidavits of candidacy, and qualifying fees; certifies candidates; develops agendas for meetings of the Board of Elections; attends Board meetings; prepares cases and documentation for Board review; performs related duties.

Minimum Requirements include Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia. Possession of or ability to obtain appropriate State of Georgia Election Officials Certification within one year of employment. Proof of these requirements must be provided at time of applying.

ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK (FULL-TIME)

The Sumter County Tax Assessor office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Administrative Clerk.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties in support of the office of the Department. Duties include but are not limited to greets visitors; answering telephone and routes calls; collects, sorts, and distributes mail; makes copies of maps and documents; uses fax machine; files various documents; handles data entry in computers; and performs related office support tasks.    

Minimum Requirements the ability to read write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent; Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTER (PART-TIME and FULL-TIME)

The Sumter County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Part-Time. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and education/experience. This position is responsible for protecting lives and property endangered by fires and other emergency situations.  Minimum requirements include; Be at least 18 years of age, not have been convicted of a felony in any jurisdiction within ten years prior to employment, have a good moral character as determined by investigation under procedure approved by Human Resources, be fingerprinted and a search made of local, state and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record (Criminal background check), possess a high school diploma or a GED, obtain National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Firefighter I certification within 6 months of employment, possession of State of Georgia Firefighter certification or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 2 months of employment, possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.  This license is required to be upgraded to a Class F license within 90 days of hire date.  Proof of requirements must be provided at time of applying.

 The Sumter County Correctional Institute is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Correctional Officer. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to supervising inmates, observing inmates conduct and behavior, directing inmates during work assignments, patrolling the facility, and performing additional tasks as assigned. 

Minimum Requirements include completion of high school or equivalent.  Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Georgia Driver’s License. Must be at least 18 years old.  Proof of these requirements must be submitted when applying for the position. Must pass P.O.S.T. Certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally within six months of employment.
