DEPUTY CLERK & PANEL COORDINATOR

The Office of the Juvenile Courts is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Deputy Clerk & Panel Coordinator.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is responsible for providing skilled clerical duties in support of the Office of the Juvenile Courts.  Duties include but are not limited to greeting the general public; answers telephones, routes calls, takes messages and responds to questions and gives information, procures and maintains all official case and judicial panel review records for each child reviewed, schedules case review dates and times, in consultation with the Council Staff Person, mails notification letters to all parties to be invited to a panel review, distributes judicial citizen review panel recommendations to the Juvenile Court Judge, DFCS, parents, and other appropriate agencies and parties.

Minimum Requirements include knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. CHEER COORDINATOR (Temporary)


The Sumter County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Temporary Cheer Coordinator. Major duties for this position include but are not limited to; coordinating and supervising all aspects of the recreation level cheer program, conducting a cheer clinic, ordering all uniforms, recruiting and supervising cheer coaches, communicating with cheer coaches, participants and staff to create a well rounded cheerleading program for girls 5-12. This position is paid $10.07 per hour and is scheduled to work up to 20 hours per week including weekend and evening hours, for approximately 10 weeks.


Minimum Requirements include high school diploma or recognized equivalent. Skill in oral and written communication is a must. Employee must be able to work flexible hours including weekdays, weekends, and evening hours.

The Sumter County Sheriff Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Certified Deputy / Civil Division Deputy / SRO Deputy.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  This position is responsible for the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws and the protection of life and property.  

Minimum Requirements include the ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.  Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Must be ALREADY Certified as a Peace Officer for the State of Georgia. 

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be able to pass a background investigation including a Criminal History, Driving History, and Reference check.  Proof of requirements must be provided at time of applying.

The Sumter County Public Works Department is seeking candidates for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Responsibilities of this position include operating a variety of moderately heavy-duty construction equipment including front-end loader, motor grader, backhoe, dump truck, lowboy and other related equipment to ensure county roads, bridges, ditches, signs, drainage systems and rights-of-ways are properly maintained.  Minimum requirements include the ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations; Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.  Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.   Proof of these requirements must be shown at time of applying.

The Sumter County Correctional Institute is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Correctional Officer. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to supervising inmates, observing inmates conduct and behavior, directing inmates during work assignments, patrolling the facility, and performing additional tasks as assigned. 

Minimum Requirements include completion of high school or equivalent.  Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Georgia Driver’s License. Must be at least 18 years old.  Proof of these requirements must be submitted when applying for the position. Must pass P.O.S.T. Certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally within six months of employment.
