DEPUTY COURT CLERK - CIVIL/CRIMINAL DIVISION TRAINEE

The Sumter County Clerk of Courts Office is seeking candidates for the position of Deputy Court Clerk - Civil/Criminal Division Trainee. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Duties include but not limited to, preparing and transmitting sentencing and conviction information to the GCIC, Department of Driver Services, Court of Appeals, Georgia Department of Corrections, and other agencies as required. Managing court records; attends court and provides clerical support; drafts bench warrants for failure to appear cases. Receiving, preparing, and processing incoming and outgoing mail. Scanning documents. Calculating and collecting money for copies, filings, etc.; balances receipts and prepares daily deposits. Answering telephone and greets visitors; providing information and assistance; providing requested documents. Assisting in maintaining office supply inventory; reorders as needed. Processing passport applications. Notarizing documents. Maintaining a variety of files and records. Preparing a variety of regular and special reports. Performing related duties. Minimum Requirements include the ability to read write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent; Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

WORK DETAIL SUPERVISOR 

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Work Detail Supervisor. Salary is commensurate based on experience, qualifications and an equitable compensation and pay plan.

Purpose of this position is to supervise county inmate crews and perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair and minor upkeep of the Sheriff’s Office and LEC. Duties include but are not limited to minor carpentry, plumbing, filter maintenance, light fixture maintenance and heating and air system maintenance. Minimum requirements include high school education or its equivalent. One to two years’ experience in building maintenance including facility maintenance, facility repair and heating and air systems. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must pass P.O.S.T. Certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally within six months of employment.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Part-Time Dispatcher/Communication Officer. This position is responsible for receiving calls for assistance from the public and dispatching appropriate public safety personnel.

Minimum Requirements include the ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.  Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia and GCIC/NCIC certification as set forth by Peace Officer Standards and training. Must be able to work flexible hours.

CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTER (PART-TIME and FULL-TIME)

The Sumter County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Part-Time. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and education/experience. This position is responsible for protecting lives and property endangered by fires and other emergency situations.  Minimum requirements include; Be at least 18 years of age, not have been convicted of a felony in any jurisdiction within ten years prior to employment, have a good moral character as determined by investigation under procedure approved by Human Resources, be fingerprinted and a search made of local, state and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record (Criminal background check), possess a high school diploma or a GED, obtain National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Firefighter I certification within 6 months of employment, possession of State of Georgia Firefighter certification or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 2 months of employment, possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.  This license is required to be upgraded to a Class F license within 90 days of hire date.  Proof of requirements must be provided at time of applying.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to supervising inmates, observing inmates conduct and behavior, directing inmates during work assignments, patrolling the facility, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements include completion of high school or equivalent. Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Georgia Driver’s License. Must be at least 18 years old.
